Quintessential Styling Tips for Lohri
Lohri is a very popular festival celebrated in the northern part of India, primarily by the Hindus and Punjabi folks. Just like other festivals in India Lohri is also related to agricultural activities of the farmers. It marks the harvesting season in Punjab at the end of the winter season. First Lohri popularly know as “Pheli Lohri” is considered as a very important and auspicious festival for the newly wedded couple and the newborn child, as it marks fertility. On the day of the festival as the sun sets, a bonfire is lit up with dry twigs and branches. People get-together singing and dancing around the bonfire to the tunes of Lohri songs. Munching of seasonal goodies like popcorn, peanuts, rewri, and sugarcane is an integral part of the celebrations. Fistful of these goodies are also thrown in the bonfire as form of worship to the Sun God. Prayers are offered in abundance. People make merry singing and dancing around on giddas and bhangra to the beats.
